I am Liz Kriel. I am the Health Coach at Mount Medical Centre.
I am originally from sunny South Africa. I regard myself a kiwi and absolutely love living in the Bay of Plenty. I am compassionate, a great listener and motivated to help others make positive changes in their life, where needed.
My role includes motivating and assisting the community and yourself with wellbeing. It is my goal to be your biggest cheerleader. I focus on behavioural changes.
The Health Coach role is unique as it allows me to work in an integrated way within the general practice. I work alongside the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP). The model is mobile, meaning I can meet you at Mount Medical or in the comfort of your own home. The service is free to those enrolled at Mount Medical.
Appointments can be made through your GP and are available Monday – Friday either at the practice, in the community, or at your own home. Appointments typically take between 30 – 45 minutes, with the first visit usually around an hour.
Examples of how a Health Coach can support you include:
- Sleep hygiene
- Strategies and exercises for weight loss
- Smoking cessation
- Motivation for lifestyle change
- Education and support for diabetes, arthritis, high cholesterol, heart disease and pain etc.
